About the founder

Founder

My name is Lidia Igolnikova, and I am the founder and director of The Flying Saucers School.

I see the handpan as a path to unlocking creativity within a person. It is an opportunity to discover your own sounds, your own music, and your own meditation—whether at home or in nature. It is a way to reconnect with your natural self and give space to your inner freedom.

About me in facts

A professional musician with a higher education degree
I graduated from a music school, a music college, and a higher education institution—the Academy of Culture and Arts—majoring in cello.
In 2008, when the handpan (hang) appeared in Russia, she started self-learning and later began passing on her knowledge and skills to her students through her own methodology.
One of the first instructors of handpan in Russia
The performer in different genres
From solo meditations to indie bands with a drum set; from a duet with a cello to a duet with a DJ. I conduct "lying concerts," group and personal meditations, individual sound bath sessions, and vibroacoustic massage with handpan, rav vast, and Tibetan singing bowls.
International festivals such as "Usadba.Jazz," "Masters of Hang from All Over Europe," "Living Water," "Empty Hills," "Protok," "Volgafest," the planetary exhibition "Astana 2017" in front of 17 presidents of countries, and presidential-level events, including private ones.
Have performed at various high-level events.
I record personal meditations, music for films, video games, theater performances, etc. In real-time, I accompany meditations and dynamic processes of other masters, performances, readings, and more.
As a sound therapist, I am constantly exploring the interconnection between physics, psychology, esotericism, and medicine. I combine focused work with sound practices, which results in clients achieving remarkable improvements in their well-being.
Improvisation for me is a special form of "live" creativity, one that is not frozen.
If you want to learn how to play or attend a sound therapy session, leave your details and we will get in touch with you!
